Holy Grounds this Sunday: On the Mall!!

Holy Grounds Community,

We have decided that since it’s Memorial Day weekend, we should do something as a group to enjoy the holiday together. We are going to attend the free concert at the National Mall on Sunday instead of our traditional service. Please see the following information:

This Sunday evening = FREE Memorial Day Concert on the West Lawn of the Capitol. There will be actors and artists entertaining. The co-hosts are Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna. Artists playing include Trace Adkins, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Colm Wilkinson, Denyce Graves, Lang Lang, and Robert McDuffie. The National Symphony will be playing as well.

They open the gates at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday – but the concert doesn’t kick off until 8:00. From the pictures on the web site (www.pbs.org/memorialdayconcert/) it looks like there are a bunch of chairs set up and then the rest of the people sit on the lawn. I wouldn’t mind setting up some blankets on the lawn and chillin’ with some potluck picnic grub for dinner.

Feel free to get to the Mall whenever you would like. We will officially MEET as a group at the top of the Capitol South Metro stop outside at 6:00 PM. We will head over to the Mall at 6:15 PM to find a place to sit. Please bring picnic stuff and we can have a wonderful time communing and having our usual discussions until the kickoff at 8:00.
